Porsche Taycan Drives Through Water Following Record Dubai Rains

Filed under the “don’t try this at home” heading may be some video of cars traversing deep water after major rains in Dubai. Yesterday, the Dubai region experienced its heaviest rain since precipitation records began in 1949, experiencing 10 inches in less than 24 hours.

Forget the usually dry climate of Dubai. Torrents of this nature would catch nearly any area in the world with flash flooding and more. Shots from the Dubai airport seem almost otherworldly as massive expensive airliners even scrambled to get away from the rising waters.

Among those put out by the oncoming rain were motorists who aren’t quite used to seeing this sort of thing. And while driving into deep water is never a smart move, some Dubai locals did attempt it. One particular car, a Porsche Taycan based on the same J1 architecture as the Audi RS e-tron GT, appears to be floating at time as it traverses water nearly up to its windows. It bobs as if it’s floating, perhaps moving only by spinning wheels as we note the splashing by the wheels themselves.

Another video posted by the same TikTok user shows the car eventually connecting with the tarmac and pulling itself from the water.

While fascinating to watch via the comfort of your own screen, it should be worth noting that these sorts of maneuvers are incredibly dangerous. Do not attempt to drive a car through flood waters as the risk of drowning is very high. In addition, this sort of water exposure can cause major damage to the car.
