New Car, New Season and Renewed Championship Desire Powers Unitronic JDC into 2023

Cutting their 2022 campaign short after finishing on the top step of the podium at Lime Rock Park wasn’t the season ending the Unitronic JDC-Miller MotorSports pairing of Mikey Taylor and Chris Miller had in mind, but it allowed the team to regroup and shift their focus on the 2023 season with the new generation RS 3 LMS TCR!

The 2021 and 2022 seasons featured several frustrating race-ending mechanical failures for the Minnesota based team, despite co-drivers Chris Miller and Mikey Taylor having often been featured as some of the fastest in class with several top qualifying positions and running up-front during the races.

The veteran sportscar racing team, led by John Church, knew they had to make a change for 2023 in order to effectively fight for an IMSA series championship against the behemoth factory supported Hyundai team and other stiff competition in the TCR class. Purchasing the newly introduced Audi TCR GEN2 car from the Ingolstadt, Germany manufacturer was anything but easy in today’s climate of supply chain shortages and wildly varying delivery dates but the team was able to lean on an Audi Sport dealer in Germany to help secure their machine much earlier than any others in 2023.

The second generation Audi TCR takes the lessons learned from the first generation and transforms the car into a completely new race car. Upgraded with Audi’s EA888 engine delivering 340HP paired with a new Hewland pneumatically actuated six-speed transmission, and also featuring upgraded aerodynamics, engine cooling and driver ergonomics, which will all come in handy during IMSA’s four hour season opener at Daytona International Speedway. For more information on the new car visit Audi.com.

This new car and preparation gives the team a positive outlook for the 2023 season and their aspirations of capturing the IMSA Michelin Pilot Championship in their 3rd attempt. Together with co-drivers Chris Miller and Mikey Taylor, Unitronic JDC-Miller MotorSports welcomes back Liqui Moly as a primary sponsor in motorsports and the Official Motor Oil and Additive Supplier of Unitronic on the corporate side. Together Unitronic and Liqui Moly are pushing the boundaries of performance and reliability of Audi and Volkswagen street cars. A special Liqui Moly x Unitronic themed livery will be on display at the Alan Jay Automotive Network 120 at Sebring International Raceway and the Battle of the Bricks at iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway to celebrate its partnership.

The 2023 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge season kicks off at Daytona International Speedway, FL for the Roar Before the 24 on January 20-22, 2023. This official pre-season test is followed directly by round one of the championship at the same iconic venue for the BMW M Endurance Challenge At Daytona, January 25-27!
