Hagerty Sells DriveShare Peer-to-Peer Car Rental App to Drive Co.
Classic and specialty car rental company (and sponsor of Audi Club North America), Hagerty has confirmed today that it is selling its peer-to-peer classic and specialty car rental app Driveshare to the UK-based Drive Co. Below is a copy of the communication that went out to Hagerty customers earlier today.
Six years ago, Hagerty® acquired the nation’s only peer-to-peer online marketplace for classic cars and relaunched it as DriveShare by Hagerty. Today, nearly 3,000 vehicles are available across the country on the platform.
Hagerty is immensely proud of the platform’s popularity, however we’ve made the strategic decision to sell DriveShare to Drive Co, a U.K.-based company that owns similar offerings including BookAClassic and Vinty.
With their existing platform and experience, Drive Co has the expertise and knowledge to lead DriveShare to its next chapter. We are confident in their abilities and are happy to know DriveShare will continue to bring classic rentals to car lovers across the U.S. under their ownership.
You don’t need to take any action immediately, however your current login will soon need to be updated for the new system. You’ll be notified by Drive Co on how to create a new log-in in the coming weeks.
As ever, Hagerty remains committed to serving car enthusiasts through our broad range of products and services including insurance, Hagerty Marketplace, Hagerty Drivers Club®, and our media and entertainment offerings.
Never stop driving!
