GT Sprint Face Off in Lone Star Showdown at COTA for GT America Powered by AWS

Competitors have battled hard on track from the West Coast to the Sunshine State, but now drivers are preparing for the next event as they gear up for the seventh and eighth rounds of the 2024 GT America Powered by AWS season in the Lone Star State. Located in Austin, Texas, the field will tackle the challenging Circuit of The Americas, a 3.426-mile road course featuring 20 turns, including the iconic steep ascent of Turn 1.  
 
Circuit of The Americas stands as a prime hub for motorsports enthusiasts looking to witness some of the best GT racing in the world. Fans in attendance will be able to indulge in the immersive ambiance of the open paddocks. From autograph sessions, to exploring the Car Corral and embarking on a pre-race grid walk ahead of Sunday’s feature Fanatec GT World Challenge America race, the experience is simply unmatched. With the arrival of the exclusive GT1 Sports Club, spectators can prepare to behold an impressive showcase of top-tier motorsport machinery from around the globe. 

SRO3 Class 
 
Following a clean sweep in Sebring, George Kurtz will be back with his No. 04 Crowdstrike by Riley Mercedes-AMG GT3 and attempting to replicate this performance in Texas as well.  
 
In the championship standings, Jason Daskalos continues to lead the pack in first place with 113 points in his No. 27 CRP Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3, closely followed by Johnny O’Connell with 109 points in the No. 3 SKI Autosport Audi R8 LMS GT3, as the two continued to accumulate podium results in their pursuit of the class title.  
 
Justin Rothberg also took home his first podium in the series in the previous round, with a third-place result in Race 2 in his No. 29 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3 demonstrating his natural progression in the championship.  
 
Kyle Washington is going to be back in the fold with his No. 32 GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3-R, this time accompanied by James Sofronas in No. 14 GMG Racing Audi R8 LMS GT3, who returns to the competition after an absence in Sebring.  
 
Scott Smithson will also be continuing to familiarize himself with his new No. 08 DXDT Racing Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R after the machine made its debut in the series in Sebring.  

Ross Chouest will be looking to continue his momentum in the No. 50 Chouest Povoledo Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3, with Jason Bell returning behind the wheel in the No. 02 Flying Lizard Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 EVO, with Tim Savage commanding the No. 007 ProSport Competition Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 once again. 

Additionally, the SRO3 class will welcome two new Texan competitors on the grid, with Marc Austin joining the field in the No. 11 Lone Star Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3, and John Roberts completing the class lineup with the No. 30 Fast Track Racing BMW M4 GT3.  
 
Alan Grossberg is back in the mix with the No. 102 TPC Racing Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2 after putting in two strong performances in Sebring, one of the most challenging and demanding tracks in the world. This time around, his sights are set on COTA in search of adding more points to his tally.  

GT4 Class 

At the top of the GT4 class rankings is Isaac Sherman in the No. 098 Rotek Racing Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, who has had a spotless season thus far, with six consecutive victories bringing him to a grand total of 150 points.  

Gray Newell sits second in the standings in the No. 25 Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 after further adding two more third-place finishes to his name in Sebring, but Curt Swearingin has begun to close the gap, sitting just a mere three points behind with the No. 7 ACI Motorsports Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS CS.  

Todd Parriott and Nicholas Shanny were engaged in some exciting wheel-to-wheel battles in the prior two rounds in their respective No. 31 Flying Lizard Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 and No. 21 Carrus Callas Raceteam BMW M4 GT4 G82, with more action incoming in Austin.  

The grid will be completed by new addition Farhan Siddiqi in the No. 95 FASTMD Racing with Remstar Racing Audi R8 LMS GT4.
