Audi Italy Chief Killed in Mountaineering Accident

Fabrizio Longo, Audi Italy’s Managing Director, diede this past weekend when he fell from 10,000 feet during a mountain climbing excursion in Italy’s northeastern region of Trentino. Long, age 62, was an experienced mountain climber.

“Fabrizio Longo has been leading the Audi brand in Italy with enormous success since 2013, confirming the brand’s leadership in the premium segment for 11 consecutive years,” a spokesman for Audi Italy stated. Longo worked previously for Fiat and Lancia.

Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann stated on LinkedIn, “We will miss you Fabrizio. Goodbye, my friend.”

Former Board Member in charge of Marketing and Sales of Audi AG and current Renault CEO Luca de Leo described Longo as a friend and shared his “infinite sadness” at the loss. He also stated via LinkedIn, “You left us while you were chasing your great passion.”
